The goal of this intervention help reduce parental vaccine hesitancy and to improve provider confidence in communicating with parents. Literature clearly shows that that providers like you are the single most trusted source of information and decision-making for parents, and that parents want and need an opportunity to comfortably express their immunization questions and concerns with their provider.
Our approach involves the following three simple steps:
1) Ask the parent whether they have a copy of the Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule and what questions they have about it
2) Acknowledge their questions and concerns
3) Advise by answering their questions using the Common Questions About Immunizations fact sheet and provide resources on specific questions or concerns they may have
By following these guidelines and recognizing that choice always lies with the parent, we hope you will improve relationships with your patients as well as help ensure timely immunizations.
